Walk mid October with my Mom

 Walks with my mom

The water looks like glass just crystal smooth.  My mom and I are walking to the river and in life. It’s like we’re always walking away.  Getting closer to the end, my poet mind says.

I say I got to enjoy these walks and I was silent most the walk just trying to enjoy 😊 my time with her.

Or walk end more so with 🐾 paw printed pants πŸ‘– from dogs jumping.  We say maybe a dozen dogs πŸ•. A wonderful time.  I often thought it was too early to spell like alcohol.  But surprised to pass another walker, but each to their own I probably smell like an ashtray.

Although I never smoked or chewed tobacco on my walk.  I just want to walk with my mom.  Often times I don’t think I could spit out everything I wanted to say so much so that I just said in these moments you don’t have to chew tobacco and say anything.

Dixie and both us individually by the fallen tree arch.

A path going to the river, under which most the trees 🌳 there are gone from beavers, 🦫 the other area got fenced off and kept all its trees 🌳

You sure hear it in the noise around popsin come paired to the trees around cottonwood park.  Absolutely silent by the trees for outside noise but you could hear stuff pawing it hoofing through the fallen leaves πŸ‚.

The usual spot to see the River on how high it is from usual blog posts looks a bit lower. The dog never went into the water, which I was grateful for because I didn’t wanna have a wet dog in the vehicle.

We thought both my mom and I thought the river was a few feet lower than it was in summertime.
Talked about the beavers and how popsin park didn’t fence off the trees and that’s why there’s less trees in the area. I found that interesting. The map we did walking around, I forgot to start my tracking watch to see my activity but the dog tracker kept it up.

Dixie’s active minutes are great. Our sleep was it had the most interruptions it has all week..

I wonder why that is,

I felt sick in the morning.

So we but didn’t sleep good, well I slept good but had an unbalance HRV.

That makes today a bit less productive.

Dix is on track to getting above average for a breed if I keep it up for my time off of work right now, so I’m excited about reaching out for similar dogs being above her breed. By 11 we are just 40 minutes away from getting her active minutes

What a beautifully reflective piece about your walks with your mom and your dog, Dixie! It captures a sense of connection with nature, family, and the little moments that make life special. Your observations about the river, the trees, and the dogs create vivid imagery. It’s relatable how you balance your thoughts about life and the present moment with the fun chaos dogs bring.

The way you describe your feelings towards not always being productive, yet finding joy in these walks, resonates deeply. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best moments are those spent disconnected from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Celebrating Ten Years and Living My Best Life🧘‍♂️ A Quiet Day at Home

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating 10 Years Together Last night was a beautiful celebration of a decade spent with Kim. We marked our 10-year anniversary with a cozy dinner at The Keg, where I indulged in a hearty 20 oz steak and Kim opted for a more modest 8 oz cut. It felt so good to get out together and enjoy a special evening. We kept things simple—just water to drink, with fresh bread and salad to start. The atmosphere was perfect, and I soaked in every moment of our time together. We’re incredibly grateful for our families, who made the night even more special. My parents generously gave us cash to enjoy our dinner, and Kim’s parents gifted us movie money so we could extend the celebration. Their thoughtfulness reminded us how lucky we are to be surrounded by love and support. Family and friends made it sweeter We were so blessed by our families: my parents gave us cash to enjoy the night and Kim’s parents sent money for a movie treat. Our friends even gifted us a 20% tip card for the meal...

Gratitude, Good Food, and Good Books

A Thanksgiving weekend of family meals, long walks, and reaching 86 books this year Bryan and I headed out for a walk after he returned from his sister’s Thanksgiving gathering, settling into a steady 30‑minute pace that carried us just under 2 km. The air was crisp with a light breeze, the kind of weather that makes movement feel effortless. I’ve always loved these cooler temperatures—my body doesn’t have to work as hard, and the transition from “easy mode” into a gentle warm‑up felt natural. Carrying 30 pounds with me added that extra layer of challenge, but it blended seamlessly into the rhythm of the walk. We paused at a park bench along the way, taking a moment to sit together before snapping a photo. That small break reminded me how these walks are as much about connection as they are about distance or weight carried. The combination of fresh air, conversation, and the grounding presence of the season made the outing feel restorative. It wasn’t just a walk—it was a reminder...

Plus 12 Celsius Smoke run πŸƒ‍♂️

The dog and I decided to do either a 3 km run or a 6 km run or 9 km run hoping for 10 km but I couldn’t find the energy to push further. It is smoky out there you could smell it and breath it in. Made me in my threshold if I keep a higher pace than 9 minutes km Cooler morning,  I went and got a sausage homestyle biscuit from Tim’s and an ice coffee ☕️  Just getting my day started. I got a doctors appointment later today over the phone πŸ“ž also. Hoping to take the dog πŸ• for a run πŸƒ‍♂️ this morning but I’m stiff. So hopefully my coffee stop warms me up to get moving this morning. Or just caffeinates me. We managed to do 6.05 km in about 59 minutes. A high heart rate of 172 bpm and an average of 144 bpm. Plus 12 Celsius while I ran but I was in full sweating πŸ˜… by the time I got home 🏑. The last couple weeks I’ve had a low relative effort due to some family losses. But I manage to get out on a smoky day like today for a run. πŸƒ‍♂️  It’s been raining heavily the last...
