Kim and I go Rucker Walking 🚢‍♂️

Kim and I start out a 3.5 km walk start of May long weekend Friday afternoon

There was frost this morning and lots of fog in the river bottom but up on top of the coulee there was no fog. 🌫️

A decent walk, over by the iconic Sunridge Bridge 🌁.  I am well above my weekly exercise for relative effort each week for my exercise routine

The exercise is decent I feel it in my stomach the most, or it could just be I’m hungry 🀀

Plus 10 Celsius for a walk.

No for real though my abs are tight from walking with 30 lbs around the park.

3.5 km in 55 minutes

351 calories later my average heart rate was 121 bpm average, my max was 138 bpm.

Kim says she likes my pace with the weight cause it slows me down to every two steps of hers I do one so she feels she can keep up better.

Average pace per km was 15:44 minutes. Not bad I figure. Going to try to relax and watch a movie tonight with Kim.

Strava says I was mostly in the endurance zone for most the exercising.  So that’s good 😊

Most of the entire walk was in easy heart rate mode.  But I even know with lifting weights that can be exhausting and straining also walking with a 30 lbs weight in my pack makes me feel like every muscle was being used.

It sounds like you had a great walk and a solid workout! Walking 3.5 km in 55 minutes with a weighted pack is impressive, especially since you’re engaging almost all your muscles and maintaining a good heart rate zone.

Your effort clearly paid off—burning 351 calories and keeping in the endurance zone is fantastic for your fitness. Plus, having Kim alongside seems to make it enjoyable and motivating for both of you.

Relaxing with a movie tonight sounds like a well-earned way to recover.

Dixie is 8 % above her dog breed at the moment and ranked 28 on the leaderboard for May. She went up on rank again

Plus 4 Celsius 6.1 km in a hour πŸƒ‍♂️

Dixie and I go for a run  πŸƒ‍♂️ Dixie and I go for a run, redo a hill run down and up again. Kim picks me up after I climb the hill, I called her and asked since I was over my hour mark, originally I wanted to do 9 km in an hour but I managed to do six km instead.  I think it was the hill climb that did it.  I ran fully down hill no problem 😌 We made good time.  For a hill run πŸƒ‍♂️   It looks like it will be 13 Celsius by noon but it feels warmer in the sun. ☀️  I took a picture by the usual spot that judge where the river is from other years and with that rain the last couple days it definitely looks a lot better than what it was a few weeks ago Dixie went off leash for a bit and went to the river. Must’ve been cold. I think for April water dip. I managed to bring my VO2 max up to good 😊 today, it’s the first time I’ve put it in the green since owning my second Garmin. So my goal right now is to get an endurance score over 5099 To move past ...

Celebrating Ten Years and Living My Best Life🧘‍♂️ A Quiet Day at Home

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating 10 Years Together Last night was a beautiful celebration of a decade spent with Kim. We marked our 10-year anniversary with a cozy dinner at The Keg, where I indulged in a hearty 20 oz steak and Kim opted for a more modest 8 oz cut. It felt so good to get out together and enjoy a special evening. We kept things simple—just water to drink, with fresh bread and salad to start. The atmosphere was perfect, and I soaked in every moment of our time together. We’re incredibly grateful for our families, who made the night even more special. My parents generously gave us cash to enjoy our dinner, and Kim’s parents gifted us movie money so we could extend the celebration. Their thoughtfulness reminded us how lucky we are to be surrounded by love and support. Family and friends made it sweeter We were so blessed by our families: my parents gave us cash to enjoy the night and Kim’s parents sent money for a movie treat. Our friends even gifted us a 20% tip card for the meal...

Gratitude, Good Food, and Good Books

A Thanksgiving weekend of family meals, long walks, and reaching 86 books this year Bryan and I headed out for a walk after he returned from his sister’s Thanksgiving gathering, settling into a steady 30‑minute pace that carried us just under 2 km. The air was crisp with a light breeze, the kind of weather that makes movement feel effortless. I’ve always loved these cooler temperatures—my body doesn’t have to work as hard, and the transition from “easy mode” into a gentle warm‑up felt natural. Carrying 30 pounds with me added that extra layer of challenge, but it blended seamlessly into the rhythm of the walk. We paused at a park bench along the way, taking a moment to sit together before snapping a photo. That small break reminded me how these walks are as much about connection as they are about distance or weight carried. The combination of fresh air, conversation, and the grounding presence of the season made the outing feel restorative. It wasn’t just a walk—it was a reminder...
