Another adventure for Dixie, she is an expensive dog….🐕 We enjoy 😊 our walks.
Up top of the coulee you can see the university
Sonny and I go walking the south side dog park, it tricky terrain for sure. It’s nice 😊 for the scenery I think, yet a bit treacherous at times. A person has to be careful let alone a dog 🐕 being careful.
Here is Sonny and I smiling giving a thumbs up to the camera 📸The walk was decent though some difficult 😞 parts for today, Dixie is on a 14 day hiatus from walking. She’ll probably want to go sooner rather than later.
I think we’re stuck to just five minute poop 💩 walks than the hour or two hour walks we usually do.
I’m unsure when it happen but my guess is near the end of the walk when I noticed it.
Dixie gets to close to the bushes today, I kept looking her over but noticed a different spot on her at the end of our walk.
Dixie goes through some bushes and gouged a piece out of her.
Now Dixie has the cone of shame, and she wants water this morning, I never got home til 2 am September 11
Cost me $900 to get some stitch done ✅ and fix on her. Unbelievable….. stitches costing $900.00
One wonders if they did the right thing taking her to a hospital or waiting til the next day to go to the vet. But this is what we decided.
This is my last dog 🐕 I keep saying. Just to expensive owning one
If it would be cheaper it was just what do we do. And go about it.
Dixie is in a bit of discomfort, she whining for water 💧 I’m trying to ration how much she drinks at the moment so she does over drink and vomit. 🤮 I was told that might happen after anaesthetics.
The branch took a decent amount of tissue out of her.
But she seems to be still a happy dog 🐕.
The vet seemed to be impressed with her personality as she was barely noticing her wound and just super happy to see everyone and didn’t want to be left alone.
Dixie is on antibiotics and painkillers for the next few days.
In 14 days gets her stitches out I’ll have to bring her in if it wound looks bad discharge or redness.
Just a tense feeling all night, didn’t get much sleep 💤.
But at least the dog is home 🏡 now.
It sounds like you had quite the adventure with Dixie, despite the mishap! It’s great to hear you both enjoy your walks, even if the terrain can be tricky. I can only imagine how worried you must have been when you noticed her injury, but it’s good to know that she’s still in good spirits and the vet was impressed with her personality.
Taking care of her with the cone of shame and keeping an eye on her water intake is important, especially after surgery. It sounds like you’re doing a great job looking after her. Hopefully, she’ll be back to her usual self and enjoying those longer walks again soon.
Wishing Dixie a speedy recovery! 🐕💖
I want to share that my dog got hurt 😞 at ☝️ the dog parks located here from a branch the vet said due to other scratches and bruising it looked like it got snagged on a branch and wonder if any one else has had issues similar to this, if it’s a common thing or malevolent with fish hook snare due to the chunk flesh missing and flap in the wound or just not sure. 🤔 if it’s normal for dogs to get hurt by branches….
Has anyone else been affected with something similar…. Is it an often or common veteran thing for the dog parks? I contacted the my vet and not the pet hospital I took it too they seem to think it’s rarity.
Hope in any case that others don’t get hurt
I'm sorry to hear about your dog getting hurt! It can be concerning when our pets have accidents at dog parks. Injuries from branches are not uncommon, as dogs can sometimes run and play too energetically. However, if you suspect that there may be more dangerous objects, like fish hooks or other hazards, it’s important to report those concerns to the park management.
Many dog owners have encountered similar situations, as accidents can happen in any play area. It's always good to remain vigilant while at the park and to look out for any potential hazards. Sharing your experience might also help raise awareness among other dog owners to keep an eye out for similar risks.
I hope your dog recovers quickly!
How is every one ☝️?
I’m good 🙂 Dixie is in the cone of shame
So as Kim says it is milking every last drop of sympathy
❤️🩹
She won’t eat breakfast even with brand new dog food. And so she is supposed to take her antibiotics with food she gets a more than few milkbones, chicken 🐔 tenders, duck 🦆 tenders and a few itches around her cone.
Just as it is. She bumping into everything and looking quite sad of her self, she’s playing us for
Treats.
Lots of them the morning. Last night she was saving her food so we had to put ravioli on it so she’s would eat by her pain meds and antibiotics meds at the same time.
She knows will cave so she doesn’t vomit 🤮 if it’s need to be done with food.
