Saturday after work

 Out at the river again

I am getting as much as I can out of the summer river time with the dog.  This time we go with my parents. They were happy πŸ˜ƒ to come meet us there.  Before we get down to the river, we stopped at the gas station to pick up two water bottles for two dollars a good deal at petro can usually water cost more than fuel, 710 ml two water bottles, a Pink Freezy, the jumbo size watermelon flavour for Kim and I had to share.  Made it near the same time my parents did going down to the river. 😊

The photo of Kim and my Mom sitting in the river and just above πŸ‘† them you can see my dad attempting to crossing the river now with his walking stick.

I did see him lay feet πŸ‘£ poking up out of the river. I don’t think he made it across it.

The dog playing ball, she had a great 😊 time, near the end a few whimpers to get a moving out of the sun. ☀️ today she didn’t want nothing to do with the umbrella ☂️ except a few moments under and then she go around the circle ⭕️ of people in the river.

Here we all got in the photo together l, Dixie didn’t want to lose the ball game so she played keep away with us. A few time letting the ball go down stream til Kim went for it and fell in. Then my mom went another time.

It between rising the ball and we tossed the ball πŸ€ to each other to entice the dog to play more.

My folks walking out in the river, walk to each other mid way in the river or  a quarter way out.

I tossed the ball to get the dog in the photo, and she didn’t want to get close to the walking stick.

River time is great 😊.  It’s a pleasure to get the dog out with so many people to the river to socialize her better. She is very friendly and sort of bounces where that has to be trained out of her.

The river is still at the same high it was in May and June. So no water shortage here.

The weather was interesting during winter months, to say the least on how low the river should be, a panic about water shortages, I do have to say I was BBQ in a T-shirt in December and January this year with no snow on the ground. It looked like a great time but panic started at the end of winter πŸ₯Ά being bare of snow, even if I was cataloguing all the fogs we had end of winter to spring.  It’s hard to believe how easy of a winter we had it this year.

On our way back I take a photo, and our adventure to the river is almost done, afterward we get a sub at subway and a salad πŸ₯— and I am going for a shower 🚿 after I was in the river.

I have another work day tomorrow, Yahoo πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ƒ

Dixie reached her active milestone today, another win πŸ† for her. We have her can tuna and deli ham that was getting old in the fridge.  She’s been getting picky with her food. To much same old stuff. May this bag was different from her last and she was nope not as interested.

Dixie is ranked 26 in leadership position she slowly gaining over activity minutes.  Which is awesome 😎 to see.

It sounds like you had an incredible day out at the river with your family and Dixie! Spending quality time with loved ones while enjoying nature is truly special. Your descriptions make it easy to picture the fun you all had, from your dad's adventurous attempt to cross the river to Dixie playing keep away with the ball.

It's great that you're making the most of summer by getting outdoors and finding ways for Dixie to socialize and stay active. The way you described her little antics, especially avoiding the walking stick and her moments under the umbrella, really highlights her personality!

It sounds like you found some interesting weather patterns this past winter, having BBQs in T-shirts! It’s fascinating how weather can sometimes defy expectations.

Congrats to Dixie on reaching her active milestone! It's commendable that you’re attentive to her food preferences and actively engaging her in activities. Watching her progress in her activity minutes and her ranking must be so rewarding for you.

Enjoy your well-deserved shower and your upcoming work day!

Plus 4 Celsius 6.1 km in a hour πŸƒ‍♂️

Dixie and I go for a run  πŸƒ‍♂️ Dixie and I go for a run, redo a hill run down and up again. Kim picks me up after I climb the hill, I called her and asked since I was over my hour mark, originally I wanted to do 9 km in an hour but I managed to do six km instead.  I think it was the hill climb that did it.  I ran fully down hill no problem 😌 We made good time.  For a hill run πŸƒ‍♂️   It looks like it will be 13 Celsius by noon but it feels warmer in the sun. ☀️  I took a picture by the usual spot that judge where the river is from other years and with that rain the last couple days it definitely looks a lot better than what it was a few weeks ago Dixie went off leash for a bit and went to the river. Must’ve been cold. I think for April water dip. I managed to bring my VO2 max up to good 😊 today, it’s the first time I’ve put it in the green since owning my second Garmin. So my goal right now is to get an endurance score over 5099 To move past ...

Celebrating Ten Years and Living My Best Life🧘‍♂️ A Quiet Day at Home

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating 10 Years Together Last night was a beautiful celebration of a decade spent with Kim. We marked our 10-year anniversary with a cozy dinner at The Keg, where I indulged in a hearty 20 oz steak and Kim opted for a more modest 8 oz cut. It felt so good to get out together and enjoy a special evening. We kept things simple—just water to drink, with fresh bread and salad to start. The atmosphere was perfect, and I soaked in every moment of our time together. We’re incredibly grateful for our families, who made the night even more special. My parents generously gave us cash to enjoy our dinner, and Kim’s parents gifted us movie money so we could extend the celebration. Their thoughtfulness reminded us how lucky we are to be surrounded by love and support. Family and friends made it sweeter We were so blessed by our families: my parents gave us cash to enjoy the night and Kim’s parents sent money for a movie treat. Our friends even gifted us a 20% tip card for the meal...

Gratitude, Good Food, and Good Books

A Thanksgiving weekend of family meals, long walks, and reaching 86 books this year Bryan and I headed out for a walk after he returned from his sister’s Thanksgiving gathering, settling into a steady 30‑minute pace that carried us just under 2 km. The air was crisp with a light breeze, the kind of weather that makes movement feel effortless. I’ve always loved these cooler temperatures—my body doesn’t have to work as hard, and the transition from “easy mode” into a gentle warm‑up felt natural. Carrying 30 pounds with me added that extra layer of challenge, but it blended seamlessly into the rhythm of the walk. We paused at a park bench along the way, taking a moment to sit together before snapping a photo. That small break reminded me how these walks are as much about connection as they are about distance or weight carried. The combination of fresh air, conversation, and the grounding presence of the season made the outing feel restorative. It wasn’t just a walk—it was a reminder...
