Back wood clean up

 Backwoods Clean Up

I get doodling and sitting by fire 🔥.  On the last day sitting in the sun finishing up the last day out in the woods.  I do a doodle of the Forest ☺️.  I went with quite a few cigars.  Came back with none left.  The photo is a little later in the day.  To sit back and enjoy the air.  The smoke, all the smells.  Dixie nose would be sniffing in a continuous point to find all the smells.  She did find a shit grin on her face expression for cattle came through camp.

Here, she gets a photo after a roll in shit.

The dog did it twice, the second day I was hoping it dried.  It did not. And she found it and rolled in it after she got hoses off.  The dog smelled.  A few kicks to get her out of the tent.  And a spray down.  She was subbern s few times.  We would go in the tent and she would stand at the door for ten minutes and play "I am not going in the tent quite yet."

Those games where she stands at the door of everything half decided and stares like what's the point. No cheering or baiting gets her in. You have to go get a treat from the car sit by the put out fire 🔥 and wait for her to come sit by you. Then brag her back to the tent.  In all what should of been a one minute decision.  Took 10 minutes of coaxing and pitching to get her on the dog bed.

I got bragging of her a few nights cause she would lay right in front of you in front of the fire.  That is a new thing to happen for me. My last dog would be scared of the fire and distance himself from it.

The cows would come right up to the fire pits I would through rocks at them when they got to close.  Would take off a car mirror if they wanted to.  Which Dixie would chase them( which in some rural settings they would shoot a dog for) then the cows would chase her.  We put her on leash when the bull came out of the woods.  The bull would finish Dixie off then come after us after.  And I kept my distance. Occasionally the quad would go by the bull 🐂 and cattle.  Yet that never got much of a reaction out of the herd.

A few days working the wood chipper, greasing it and a few pours of diesel.  Slow starts. Depending on the day and the beaches it would take lots of little of the wood.  Some of it was hardy.  The last load looked at if a nuclear bomb went off and the branches got mutated.  There were huge knots in the wood that could go through the chipper. The chainsaw got drained of fuel and the last load got cleaned up.  Yet the day ran out to get back by supper.  We put in some work, all volunteers out there. For a day working and glamping.

End of the day cake around and I would be tired standing in the sun and chipping. Picking up branches and driving the 1 ton over the mountain side.

Pay me, ha. That sounds like a day I would do for free.

French toast with peanut butter and syrup.  With the old Aunt Jemima bottle.  We sat back and drank coffee in the morning, waiting for it to warm up enough to start the chipper.  Mostly cutting branches and dead wood for fire Wood.

I burnt my fingers when I touched the stove in the morning.  I got told not to wake up before 6. And then I wouldn't have to ask to start a fire in the ⛺ tent.  Yet I have a internal clock that wakes up at 4-5 and I sat in bed for awhile going I got to get up.

So I did and closed the stove door with my fingers instead of the lever.  Which I have huge water blisters 😉 on the tips of my fingers now.

Surprisingly I held a ice bottle and never noticed the difference until the sun came up.

Cutting wood for the fire.  Not much to say. I enjoyed the time.  It was needed to get away.  I had needed it.  This has been the first time I have gone for a vacation away from Kim.  It's always had been Kim away from me.

She said I needed to go more often.  I get saying to myself that I need to quit my job and live homeless out in the woods for a few years. Ha thats how people go missing.

Yet this seems like a great time for the weekends.  And the work keeps a guy busy.  Next time I'm bring a towel cause I got home and stunk.

After a quick mow of the front in a heat warning. I never got to the back. I sat down and never got up the rest of the day. Beside moving the water around.  I went to bed at 8.  Got up at 4 and started writing this blog.  Started a book and the thought came to me. I never read one book the entire time out camping.  I enjoyed the sound of nature.  Thats remarkable that I could be entertained with white and gray nature noise 😜.

Slept good.  Made sure I went with a neck face mask and if my beanie came off I would pull that over my head to stay warm.  Mornings a bit cool, yet the joke is I was ready for winter.

I found that the carhartts I went with are a size to small.  They don't fit, which then I wore the same pants all weekend.  No complaint about it. It would of been nice not to pack it and only brought a towel in the spot of the pants ☺️.

The weekend 😁 away and the work function kept a mental reprieve from how my mind works often.  And simply muscle work 💪 made the weekend enjoyable.  A nice change from the usuals that I often toil in.  That often the simplest joys are over looked for a variety of reasons.

Is that often goes under approachable to any or passive elements.

  1. Glad you had a good time! Apparently, a dog will roll in the pop so it will smell like the other animals; it is an ancient survival behaviour.

Plus 4 Celsius 6.1 km in a hour 🏃‍♂️

Dixie and I go for a run  🏃‍♂️ Dixie and I go for a run, redo a hill run down and up again. Kim picks me up after I climb the hill, I called her and asked since I was over my hour mark, originally I wanted to do 9 km in an hour but I managed to do six km instead.  I think it was the hill climb that did it.  I ran fully down hill no problem 😌 We made good time.  For a hill run 🏃‍♂️   It looks like it will be 13 Celsius by noon but it feels warmer in the sun. ☀️  I took a picture by the usual spot that judge where the river is from other years and with that rain the last couple days it definitely looks a lot better than what it was a few weeks ago Dixie went off leash for a bit and went to the river. Must’ve been cold. I think for April water dip. I managed to bring my VO2 max up to good 😊 today, it’s the first time I’ve put it in the green since owning my second Garmin. So my goal right now is to get an endurance score over 5099 To move past ...

Walk mid October with my Mom

Walks with my mom The water looks like glass just crystal smooth.  My mom and I are walking to the river and in life. It’s like we’re always walking away.  Getting closer to the end, my poet mind says.   I say I got to enjoy these walks and I was silent most the walk just trying to enjoy 😊 my time with her. Or walk end more so with 🐾 paw printed pants 👖 from dogs jumping.  We say maybe a dozen dogs 🐕. A wonderful time.  I often thought it was too early to spell like alcohol.  But surprised to pass another walker, but each to their own I probably smell like an ashtray. Although I never smoked or chewed tobacco on my walk.  I just want to walk with my mom.  Often times I don’t think I could spit out everything I wanted to say so much so that I just said in these moments you don’t have to chew tobacco and say anything. Dixie and both us individually by the fallen tree arch. A path going to the river, under which most the trees 🌳 there are...

Walk and a run in to the vet

Another adventure for Dixie,  she is an expensive dog….🐕 We enjoy 😊 our walks. Up top of the coulee you can see the university  Sonny and I go walking the south side dog park,  it tricky terrain for sure.  It’s nice 😊 for the scenery I think, yet a bit treacherous at times.  A person has to be careful let alone a dog 🐕 being careful. Here is Sonny and I smiling giving a thumbs up to the camera 📸  The walk was decent though some difficult 😞 parts for today, Dixie is on a 14 day hiatus from walking.  She’ll probably want to go sooner rather than later. I think we’re stuck to just five minute poop 💩 walks than the hour or two hour walks we usually do. I’m unsure when it happen but my guess is near the end of the walk when I noticed it. Dixie gets to close to the bushes today, I kept looking her over but noticed a different spot on her at the end of our walk.   Dixie goes through some bushes and gouged a piece out of her. Now Dixie has th...
