June. 13 Thursday 10 km

 6:30 start of walk

Start of the walk I’m up at quarter to Five ready for a walk at 6:30.  Meanwhile we finish about quarter to Nine.

A peaceful walk I take some time looking πŸ‘€ around five in the morning looking for Dixie’s portable foldable water dish for the walk took for ever to find it.

Three pelicans in Sunridge Park when we started our walk.  We made good time I think two hours and 16 minutes.

A decent time not much for talking today but those walks are often the better  ones, Just quality time with another guy walking is a lot of fun too.

My training readiness went to low, but it’s halfway so I still think I can lift weights last time. I did 10 km, my stats for training readiness went down all the way to the very bottom last 10km I think it’s cause I ran for some of it and so I think I can do some weights today still with out hurting myself.  I’m still hoping to mow the lawn before work starts for me on the weekend tomorrow.

Getting down to popsin park was good 😊 going up James shed some layers of clothing to make it up.

Me a couple dogs down at the river bottom name, Loki I think the same name is Tyrrell from Thor and La Lucy Dog greeted. They were the most behaved on our walk. I met a pitbull that was quite interested in Dixie. She had to go back on a leash and we had to walk the other way for about two minutes for the dog to go back to its owner, but the mundane kept on go on, and then we stopped at the bench and gave Dixie some water and drank some water ourselfs.

The dog enjoyed her time, the coulee is really green, greener than more times than I can remember.  We were thinking if itWe’re an early fall with snow that the harvest could be really hampered by the wet to fall. If this cool spring is,  something like the fall.

Going uphill down the gravel road we’re waving at vehicles saying good morning to a few early achievers making it to the dog park early. Had a good attitude for the walk and I felt like happy to be out so early..

12,600 steps and Dixie already has 168 active minutes  and it’s only nine in the morning.

Dixie is doing okay ✅ on the local score board for June.

At home I light a cigarette and give Dixie a milk bone 🦴. The large ones she just starting to snack on it in this photo.

By the bridge going through Sunridge park again.

A fun time, we made good time.

I think we only took two or three breaks on a bench and those are well needed and recovered well. Average pace was 13 /km

62 floors climbed walking down the valley Coulee.

It sounds like you had a lovely morning walk filled with various observations and encounters! It's great that you and Dixie had a good time out there, despite the training readiness being a bit low. It's impressive that Dixie already has so many active minutes early in the morning.

Also, I see you covered quite a distance with 12,600 steps and climbing 62 floors - that's some good exercise right there! It's nice to hear that you enjoyed the scenic views and the greenery around you.

It seems like you had a fulfilling walk today, and it's always nice to start the day with some fresh air and physical activity. Keep up the good work!

One session of 15 minutes, I’ll go mow the lawn and do another 15 minutes of weights

I’m tired
😴

Well I walked 10 km done at 9  started at 6:30 blogged til 10.  Rested till 11 started mowing didn’t finish the back yard till 1:30 took 2:30 hours just for the back.  A few swear words later.  It was that long and it’s that short now.

I put grass clippings under the lilac bushes the got something to eat at 2
Played ball πŸ€ with the dog till 3 in the back yard now I’m laying down trying to figure how to mow my front yard

I got up at quarter to five

Edmonton has nearly double of Covid cases since last June and July it looks like.  So I think this fall is going to be bad, more so if it’s a wet fall.

Got my dad a Father’s Day gift a painting πŸ–Ό️
He was excited, but we had to be so far apart cause my mom had Covid….

And a long on my ten km walk saying hope on it.
Thought it was worth posting

Celebrating Ten Years and Living My Best Life🧘‍♂️ A Quiet Day at Home

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating 10 Years Together Last night was a beautiful celebration of a decade spent with Kim. We marked our 10-year anniversary with a cozy dinner at The Keg, where I indulged in a hearty 20 oz steak and Kim opted for a more modest 8 oz cut. It felt so good to get out together and enjoy a special evening. We kept things simple—just water to drink, with fresh bread and salad to start. The atmosphere was perfect, and I soaked in every moment of our time together. We’re incredibly grateful for our families, who made the night even more special. My parents generously gave us cash to enjoy our dinner, and Kim’s parents gifted us movie money so we could extend the celebration. Their thoughtfulness reminded us how lucky we are to be surrounded by love and support. Family and friends made it sweeter We were so blessed by our families: my parents gave us cash to enjoy the night and Kim’s parents sent money for a movie treat. Our friends even gifted us a 20% tip card for the meal...

Gratitude, Good Food, and Good Books

A Thanksgiving weekend of family meals, long walks, and reaching 86 books this year Bryan and I headed out for a walk after he returned from his sister’s Thanksgiving gathering, settling into a steady 30‑minute pace that carried us just under 2 km. The air was crisp with a light breeze, the kind of weather that makes movement feel effortless. I’ve always loved these cooler temperatures—my body doesn’t have to work as hard, and the transition from “easy mode” into a gentle warm‑up felt natural. Carrying 30 pounds with me added that extra layer of challenge, but it blended seamlessly into the rhythm of the walk. We paused at a park bench along the way, taking a moment to sit together before snapping a photo. That small break reminded me how these walks are as much about connection as they are about distance or weight carried. The combination of fresh air, conversation, and the grounding presence of the season made the outing feel restorative. It wasn’t just a walk—it was a reminder...

Plus 12 Celsius Smoke run πŸƒ‍♂️

The dog and I decided to do either a 3 km run or a 6 km run or 9 km run hoping for 10 km but I couldn’t find the energy to push further. It is smoky out there you could smell it and breath it in. Made me in my threshold if I keep a higher pace than 9 minutes km Cooler morning,  I went and got a sausage homestyle biscuit from Tim’s and an ice coffee ☕️  Just getting my day started. I got a doctors appointment later today over the phone πŸ“ž also. Hoping to take the dog πŸ• for a run πŸƒ‍♂️ this morning but I’m stiff. So hopefully my coffee stop warms me up to get moving this morning. Or just caffeinates me. We managed to do 6.05 km in about 59 minutes. A high heart rate of 172 bpm and an average of 144 bpm. Plus 12 Celsius while I ran but I was in full sweating πŸ˜… by the time I got home 🏑. The last couple weeks I’ve had a low relative effort due to some family losses. But I manage to get out on a smoky day like today for a run. πŸƒ‍♂️  It’s been raining heavily the last...
